Desert Star Detectives offers spot-the-difference worksheets for ages 6-8. Compare stars, telescopes, rovers and observatory scenes with 2-6 differences per comparison. Choose individual pages for a short activity or use the book’s progression at a comfortable pace.
A closer look at the desert observatory
A telescope band has vanished, a rover has lost its window, and an observatory door looks a little different. Desert Star Detectives turns these small changes into a playful picture investigation for Ages 6–8. Children look between two clear drawings, find the details that have changed, and circle their discoveries with a pencil.
The primary skill is spot-the-difference. The book begins with two large stars and a simple two-change warm-up. Telescopes and cacti introduce three differences before rover and camp comparisons add a fourth. Instrument trays bring five details into view, while three small sky-map pairs ask children to check one change at a time. A six-difference observatory inspection offers the most demanding single scene.
Ten activities, with room to work
You receive 10 printable activity pages and one original full-color cover. Every worksheet uses black outlines on white paper, short English instructions, and open space around the drawings. The compositions vary across tall comparisons, side-by-side objects, framed sky maps, a practical packing review, and a final mixed mission.
On the backpack review, children find five missing details and draw one of them in a roomy box. The final page combines telescope and cactus comparisons with a star-copying space and a small number-writing task. Children can check each pair carefully rather than racing through the book. An adult may read the instruction aloud, point out how to compare matching parts, or invite the child to explain a discovery.
