Illustrated fable about empathy and good manners
A fox invites a stork to dinner and serves soup in a shallow bowl that suits his own mouth but not her beak. The stork's return invitation turns the situation around. This version of The Fox and the Stork uses two meals to make consideration and fairness concrete, inviting readers to notice another guest's needs.
Read and talk about empathy and good manners
Treating someone fairly can mean thinking about their different needs.
After reading, try asking: What should a thoughtful host consider before serving a guest? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
