Illustrated fable about honesty and appearances
A donkey finds a lion's skin and uses it to frighten the forest animals. For a while, the disguise makes him seem powerful. Then his bray reveals who is underneath. This illustrated version of The Ass in the Lion's Skin follows the contrast between an impressive appearance and the words and actions that reveal a character.
Read and talk about honesty and appearances
An appearance cannot replace the qualities it seems to promise.
After reading, try asking: What reveals the truth about the animal wearing the lion's skin? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
