Winter story about sharing
Jasper the blue jay believes his size and hoard of seeds will see him through the cold. When his food is lost, that confidence no longer helps. Pippin, the small chickadee Jasper has treated poorly, has a chance to offer kindness. The winter setting connects sharing with a real need and gives Jasper a reason to reconsider his behavior.
Read and talk about kindness and sharing
Sharing can matter most when a friend cannot solve a problem alone.
After reading, try asking: What does Jasper learn when he needs Pippin's help? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
