Picture book about hard work
Maisy the field mouse works to prepare the village granaries, while Leo the basset hound would rather keep napping. As the season changes and winter approaches, their different choices become harder to ignore. The harvest setting puts diligence and responsibility into a visible task, while leaving room for kindness between the friends.
Read and talk about diligence and responsibility
Work done ahead of time can meet a need that is not urgent yet.
After reading, try asking: Why does Maisy begin the harvest work before winter arrives? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
