Autumn story about kindness and forgiveness
Ragnar the squirrel prides himself on his speed and store of nuts, and he mocks Timothy the tortoise for being slow. The first frost changes their situation when Ragnar becomes trapped in ice. Timothy's steady help contrasts with the squirrel's earlier treatment of him, bringing forgiveness and the value of a patient friend into the changing forest season.
Read and talk about kindness and forgiveness
A friend's steady kindness can matter more than quickness or boasting.
After reading, try asking: How does Timothy's response differ from Ragnar's earlier behavior? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
