Illustrated fable about kindness and friendship
A mouse disturbs a sleeping lion and asks to be released, promising help in return. The lion doubts that such a small creature could be useful to him. Later, a hunter's net traps the lion, and the mouse's teeth offer a solution that strength cannot. The Lion and the Mouse follows an unexpected friendship through two acts of help.
Read and talk about kindness and friendship
A small friend's ability can matter in a situation where strength is not enough.
After reading, try asking: Why can the mouse help when the lion cannot free himself? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
