Illustrated fable about self-control and listening
A tortoise wants to see more of the world than his slow journey allows. Two ducks offer help and carry him into the air, but the arrangement depends on what he does next. This version of The Tortoise and the Ducks follows his curiosity, pride and impulsive response, leaving families a specific choice to discuss.
Read and talk about self-control and listening
Receiving help can bring a responsibility to listen and act thoughtfully.
After reading, try asking: Why does the tortoise need to think before speaking? Let your child point to a scene or describe a character’s choice in their own words.
